According to D.A.O Adeniji, the second Olori Apena of ROF, ROF is a fraternal organization and a way of life. ROF is not a religion but it is religious in character based on the belief in the fatherhood of God, brotherhood of man, and the immortality of the soul. It is not a secret society, because it is a registered society by the Federal Government since 17th June, 1943.
The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity, also known as the R.O.F, is an international fraternal organization. It is commonly described by initiates as a syncretic blend of the Ogboni system of Yorubaland and various external elements.
The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity was founded on 18 December 1914

The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity claims not to be a secret society. “The R.O.F is not a Secret Society, It is not a religion, but it is religious in character based on the belief in the Fatherhood of God; Brotherhood of man and the immortality of souls.
ROF does not represent any particular political interest; we only o teaches “kindness at home, honesty in business, courtesy in society, fairness in work, pity and concern for the unfortunate, resistance towards the wicked, help for the weak, forgiveness for the penitent, love for one another and above all, reverence and LOVE for God”. Growing up in Nigeria, we have been made aware of secret societies and cults made of powerful men who control the destiny of this nation. One of such societies is not the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity.
To improve and elevate the character of mankind by promoting the principles of friendship, love, truth, faith, hope, charity and universal justice.
To associate for the promotion of the principle of universal Fatherhood of God. the All-seeing-eye, and universal Brotherhood of man, without any discrimination as to race, color, creed , sex, religion, or political affiliation.
